Basic Coverage is the minimum protection required by California law and is automatically included in your move. It provides limited compensation based on the weight of each item, not its actual value.

Best for customers who understand the risk and are comfortable with minimal protection.

Example: A 100 lb item would have a maximum payout of $60.00 if damaged.

Full Replacement Value Coverage

Premium protection based on real value

Full Replacement Coverage is designed for customers who want their items repaired or replaced at current market value, instead of being compensated by weight only.

This coverage applies up to the total declared value of your shipment. You choose the deductible level:

  • $500 Deductible$3.50 per $100 of coverage
  • $250 Deductible$5.00 per $100 of coverage

Example (Declared Value: $20,000):

$0 deductible → $20,000 ÷ 100 × $7.50 = $1,500

Items of Extraordinary Value

HIGH-VALUE ITEMS MUST BE LISTED INDIVIDUALLY TO BE FULLY PROTECTED.

Certain items require special handling under our valuation policy. These are considered Items of Extraordinary Value, typically any item worth more than $1,000 or items with a very high value relative to their weight.

Examples include:

  • Artwork, sculptures, and framed pieces
  • Jewelry and watches
  • Fine collectibles and antiques
  • Designer handbags and luxury fashion items
  • High-end electronics, TVs, and audio systems
  • Musical instruments

To qualify for Full Replacement Coverage, these items must be declared individually on your insurance form and, in accordance with our guidelines, must be packed by SF Bay Area Moving for liability to apply.
